Fire Suppression

Also Known as Clean Agent Systems, Fire Suppression systems are used in areas with critical assets that you don’t want damaged by the use of a water sprinkler system.
When it comes to fire suppression, most businesses think strictly of fire sprinklers, but when it comes to your critical areas such as data processing room, telecommunication room, historical/cultural properties, mri room, record storage etc… You need a system that will extinguish the fire without damaging your property.
HiTech is able to design and install a state of the art fire suppression system to meet all your needs.

WATER DELUGE SYSTEMS
A deluge system is where the sprinkler heads are open and the pipe is not pressurized with air. Deluge systems are connected to a water supply through a deluge valve that is opened by the operation of a smoke or heat detection system. The detection system is installed in the same area as the sprinklers. When the detection system is activated water discharges through all of the sprinkler heads in the system. Deluge systems are used in places that are considered high hazard areas such as power plants, aircraft hangars and chemical storage or processing facilities. Deluge systems are needed where high velocity suppression is necessary to prevent fire spread.

A foam deluge system is similar to a conventional water deluge system except AR-AFFF foam is mixed in the water supply from a foam bladder tank. HiTech’s automatic sprinkler systems and services include the design, installation, maintenance and inspection of a full range of hardware solutions.

We’re ready to equip your facilities with:

  • Standard Response Sprinklers
  • Quick Response Sprinklers
  • Nozzles
  • Special Sprinklers
  • Wet Pipe Systems
  • Dry Pipe Systems
  • Deluge Systems
  • Single Interlock Systems
  • Double Interlock Systems
  • Detection and Alarms
  • General Purpose Valves
  • Pipe Systems
  • Miscellaneous

Regardless of its size, your system will be installed by HiTech sprinkler fitters who participate in a four-year, nationally recognized training program.

In addition to routine system service and inspection, HiTech provides 24/7 emergency service response that is unequaled in the industry.

Foam:

Fire fighting foam is a foam used for fire suppression. Its role is to cool the fire and to coat the fuel, preventing its contact with oxygen, resulting in suppression of the combustion. The surfactants used need to produce foam in concentration of less than 1%.

Other components of fire retardant foams are organic solvents (eg. trimethyltrimethylene glycol and hexylene glycol), foam stabilizers (e.g. lauryl alcohol), and corrosion inhibitors.

Low-expansion foams have an expansion rate less than 20 times. Foams with expansion ratio between 20-200 are medium expansion. Low-expansion foams such as AFFF are low-viscosity, mobile, and able to quickly cover large areas.

High-expansion foams have an expansion rate over 200. They are suitable for enclosed spaces such as hangars, where quick filling is needed.

Alcohol-resistant foams contain a polymer that forms a protective layer between the burning surface and the foam, preventing foam breakdown by alcohols in the burning fuel. Alcohol resistant foams should be used in fighting fires of fuels containing oxygenates, eg. MTBE, or fires of liquids based on or containing polar solvents.

Gaseous fire suppression is a term to describe the use of inert gases fire. Also called Clean Agent Fire Suppression. These Agents are governed by the NFPA Standard for Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems – NFPA 2001. The system typically consists of the agent, agent storage containers, agent release valves, fire detectors, fire detection system (wiring control panel, actuation signaling), agent delivery piping, and agent dispersion nozzles. Less typically, the agent may be delivered by means of solid propellantgas generators that produce either inert or chemically active gas and chemical agents to extinguish .

Closed Circuit Television

Closed Circuit Television

Closed Circuit Television has come a long way since it’s original design. In today’s world you can not only use CCTV to view what is happening in your facility while you are on site, you can stream the video to central stations, homes and in some cases police stations.
CCTV is used today not only to go back and find out what took place, but with the technology of Video Analytics and face recognition you can stop an event or threat before it happens.
HiTech has the experts on staff to design and install any state of the art CCTV system to meet your needs.

From Wikipedia

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors.

It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point wireless links. CCTV is often used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airports, military installations, and convenience stores.

In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room; when, for example, the environment is not suitable for humans. CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event. A more advanced form of CCTV, utilizing Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), provides recording for possibly many years, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion-detection and email alerts).

HiTech’s fire sprinkler systems are designed using an area and density approach. The Customer’s building use and building contents will be analyzed to determine a level of fire hazard. Typically buildings are classified as light hazards, ordinary hazards group 1, ordinary hazard group 2, extra hazard group 1, or extra hazard group 2. Then determining the hazard classification or description, a design area and density can be identified by referencing tables in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. The design area is a theoretical area of the building representing the worst case scenario area where a fire could burn. After a design area and density have been determined, calculations are performed to prove that the fire sprinkler system can deliver the required amount of water over the required design area. These calculations account for all of the pressure that is lost or gained between the water supply source and the fire sprinkler system that would operate in the design area. This includes pressure losses due to friction inside the piping and losses or gains due to elevational differences between the source and the discharging fire sprinklers.

We want to be known as the Houston Fire Sprinkler Standard. With a title like Houston Fire Sprinkler Standard, other fire sprinkler installers would then pay closer attention to the fire sprinkler methods we use. This in the end would increase the fire safety measures  across the board for all Houston  fire sprinkler installations.

Local Houston Commercial Businesses – Be Prepared

Local Houston Commercial Businesses This is just a suggestion to get your insurance up to date, and fire safety equipment inspected. This year could very well be just as dry of a season as we had last year. Or more so.
It would be a good idea to get paper work in order and make sure that your employees have escape plans and proper fire safety equipment. Make sure that all fire exits are clearly marked and not blocked. Make sure that your fire extinguishers are current on their inspection, to prevent faulty equipment in an emergency. Verify that your fire detection equipment is in proper inspected working order, this would be; smoke detectors, heat detectors, duct detectors an manual pull stations.

Also make sure that your fire alarm notification devices are working and functioning to make sure that your employees and staff members and clients get early notification to evacuate the premises before there is any loss or damages. Fire Alarm Notification devices include strobe warnings that can be in a fire alarm strobe or fire alarm horn strobe and fire alarm speaker strobe (but not limited to) or a fire alarm bell. These devices can be an early warning to all occupants of a building that is on fire or filling with smoke, and can also alarm your neighboring businesses before there is a larger fire. You should also consider preventing further damage by having your fire sprinkler fire suppression equipment inspected and updated or repaired before the hottest point of the summer season.

There are many locations in the state of Texas that perform these inspections and tests, repairs, upgrades and installations. HiTech Integrated Solutions can perform all of these services for you along with scheduling the local fire marshal in your area to finalize and verify that you are up to code, before the hottest part of the year is upon us.

Just a reminder from HiTech Integrated Solutions, your all in one fire safety company.
